Sailor Twain: Or: The Mermaid in the Hudson - Mark Siegel

What.a.ride! Utterly absorbing from start to finish. Clever, mysterious, mind-bending, and just wonderful. The setting, the story, the characters - all so original. I think the only thing I'm still working out is how I feel about Siegel's artwork. It's just so 'cartoonish' at times. When it works, it works. With their outrageously large eyes the characters are capable of SUCH intense expressions. On the other hand, it is rather odd to see these childishly rendered figures in such, erm, 'adult' situations. In any event, I still loved this very, very much and hope to see much more from this author/illustrator.
