A House Is a House for Me - Mary Ann Hoberman, Betty Fraser
This is a lovely book that makes seeking out vintage/out of print books completely worth the effort! In this book we get to explore all the many different types of houses there really are. And as one reviewer mentioned it really is amazingly exhaustive on the subject. Certainly there is the predictable - (A barn? That's a house for a cow), but the list goes on and on until you get things like A book is a house for a story and My head is a house for a secret. And the book never really has to end as you discuss with a child all the different kinds of 'houses'. And the illustrations? Um wow! They are so much more than I could have hoped for - skillful, detailed, imaginative - perfect!
