The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society - Mary Ann Shaffer, Annie Barrows

I am a very 50/50 kind of person.  Half introvert/half extravert.  Half cynic/half optimist.  I could go on and on.  Sometimes I like this about myself, sometimes I don’t.  See what I mean?

This book really appealed to a particular half of me - the part, for example, that is willing to admit that Anne of Green Gables is my favorite novel on the planet.  So, today I say the other half can just shut the hell up and let me enjoy this sweet cozy little novel - cutesy title, sappy plot, and questionable epistolary style be-damned!

At the end of the day I 100% buy the novel’s premise – that art (via literature, music, etc.) and friendship are the things that not only make this ugly world bearable, but also somewhat beautiful at times.
