Goldie and the Three Bears - Diane Stanley
A nice modernization of the familiar tale. Goldie is what some might call a picky child - she knows what she likes and what she doesn't. This is all fine when it concerns food and clothes and books, but her parents start to worry about Goldie making friends. Is she being too picky? A chance encounter at a strange house could change everything.

I can't say that, as a whole, it completely knocked my socks off, but the kid really liked it. She knows what she likes ;-) The narrative is smooth and enjoyable to read aloud and the illustrations have a lot of appeal with fun little details - very cute, but not overly so.
