Shakespeare's Theater - Jacqueline Morley, John James
I've been on a bit of a 'Shakespeare for kids' kick - trying to find good introductory titles to familiarize a young child with the life, times and works of the Great Bard. So far what I've come across isn't quite what I'm looking for in terms of age range (younger elementary). Understandably most of the good stuff is aimed at older elementary to young adult. Nonetheless, I've still enjoyed what I've found and have still been able to share portions with my six year old daughter. This one in particular was fun to just look at and discuss.

Although there is a lot of overlap between the two I think this works well as a nice companion piece to Shakespeare: His Work and His World - which I just read prior to this one. One is more biographical/historical and the other more strongly emphasizes the history of theatre. The illustrations here aren't as visually striking as those in Shakespeare: His Work and His World, but this one felt more 'youth friendly' with its immense detail and cool cross section illustrations.

This is my first experience with a title from the Inside Story series and I am duly impressed and now grudgingly interested in the other titles in the series - including, but not limited to An Egyptian Pyramid, A Medieval Castle, and A 16th Century Mosque. Just what I needed - more reading projects!
