A Child's Book of Play in Art - Lucy Micklethwait
Lucy Micklethwait's Art books are fantastic! I think that every household with children should have at least one of them. I own I Spy: An Alphabet in Art and A Child's Book of Art: Great Pictures First Words and I'm tempted to get this one as well. We have yet to get tired of reading and looking through these books. They pack a huge 'bang for your buck' as they have the ability to spark an infinite amount of conversations. And this one is particularly fun as Micklethwait has outlined activities for each page which you can follow to the letter, adapt, or ignore entirely. The possibilities are limitless! I can't think of a better way to get a young child interested in and familiar with great art (unless you're lucky enough to live in one of the great cities with countless art museums). Highly recommended!
