A fun story, very much in the same vein as the only other story I've read by Nesbit [b: The Town in the Library|1128142|The Town in the Library|E. Nesbit|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1245440370s/1128142.jpg|1115316] - something very magical happens quite abruptly to an otherwise ordinary child on an otherwise ordinary day. It's fun and the illustrations by Inga Moore are fun, but I can't say it's one I'd return to over and over again.
*Three things worth noting:
1.) This is an abridgement of the original text.
2.) Although some rather frightening things do occur, all is set to right in the end.
3.) The Hippogriff here is actually a Pegasus - weird. No like.
