Very, very sweet story from a bygone era in which not a great deal happens, but a slight little adventure is still had. I think the old fashioned (circa 1905 I believe) illustrations (best compared with Kate Greenaway) are what make this book so sweet and special. I wonder if these books were meant to be so tiny? The very new looking edition I have is very delightful with pretty little endpapers, but I imagine these illustrations would be even more appealing in a slightly larger format. In any event, I'm excited to see this in print and would like to read the others in the series:
The Story of the Root Children, The Story Of The Rabbit Children, The Story of the Wind Children, and The Story of the Butterfly Children
