Monsters Are Afraid of the Moon - Marjane Satrapi, Jill Davis
This book marks one of the most impressive cases of synchronicity I've experienced in a while. The other night while tucking my daughter in to bed she tearfully confessed that she was scared of monsters. On the spur of the moment I told her she could start in my bed because that's where our cat sleeps and, of course, everyone knows monsters are terrified of cats! Thankfully, she bought it hook, line, and sinker! And I've convinced her that she's even safe in her own bed because the cat protects the entire upstairs with her presence. Fast forward to today when we finally get to the library book we checked out on Friday. It turns out that, as this title suggests, monsters are also afraid of the moon. But as Marie, our little heroine, soon finds out taking the moon from the sky can have disastrous consequences. So what is the solution? Well, of course, everyone knows monsters are ALSO terrified of cats! And that's why all smart people won't be caught dead with out a cat curled up at the foot of their bed!

The book itself is cute - authored and illustrated by Marjane Satrapi (Persepolis). It's not really anything spectacular, but I still recommend it for those 'in the know' about the power of cats.
