In this story a personified (and beyond gorgeous) Mother Earth spends a day tending her domain (here the setting is Africa). She is peaceful, calm and, above all, tolerant of all earth's creatures - from the lowliest mosquito to the complicated human. It's a totally groovy type of story that delights my inner tree hugger. I adore Leo and Diane Dillon - their art always elevates a picture book beyond the ordinary. I highly recommend this along with To Every Thing There Is A Season and Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears A West African Tale - all are phenomenal picture books!
