Absolutely lovely, luminous, spooky, marvelous art. For that alone this is so worth checking out. The story…well, it’s fine really and perhaps I would have been more blown away if I hadn’t already read Gunnerkrigg Court, Courtney Crumrin and even Anya’s Ghost. The story is suitably gothic and pretty engaging, but it also feels oddly spotty and choppy. I kept feeling as if I’d missed something. I still have plans to read the sequel, but I just can’t say I am as deeply in love with this as I am with Gunnerkrigg and Crumrin.
